You already know what it means to have a safe place to come home to.

Hold that feeling. Because here in Eretz Yisrael, in the middle of a real war, that feeling is something our families are fighting — every single day — to hold onto.
Giant missiles tear through the air without warning. Air raid sirens split the silence and everyone runs — mothers grabbing children, fathers counting heads. And then there are the little ones, wide-eyed and trusting, who press their small hands against yours and wait. They wait for the boom that tells them the missile was intercepted. Kimcha D’Pischa, which translates from Aramaic as "flour for Passover," is holy Jewish tradition and communal obligation to provide the poor with the necessary funds and food for Pesach. Because the laws of Passover are stringent and require specific, often expensive items—such as handmade matzah, kosher wine, and fresh meat—the financial burden on struggling families can be overwhelming. This charitable initiative ensures that every member of the community, regardless of their economic status, can observe the Seder and the week-long festival with dignity and joy rather than stress or hunger.

The perks of this practice extend beyond simple humanitarian relief, offering profound spiritual and social benefits. For the recipient, it provides "Hachnasat Orchim" (hospitality) and "Simchat Yom Tov" (holiday joy), reinforcing their sense of belonging within the community. What if the Golden Calf was never actually carved by human hands?

This week's Kabbalistic insights take us into one of the most disturbing — and most misunderstood — episodes in the entire Torah. The 13th-century mystic Rabbi Menachem Recanati, drawing on the Zohar, reveals that the sin of the Golden Calf was not crude idolatry. It was a cosmic miscalculation. Aharon chose gold because gold corresponds to Din — its color is the color of fire, and the Sages say it resembles the blood of bulls. But when that gold was cast into the flames, the impure spirit found the desert, found the gold, found the right hand of Aharon — and it completed itself. The calf was not made. It emerged. And with it, the spiritual venom of the primordial serpent returned to the world.

Then comes a teaching that will change the way you see everything physical around you. The two Tablets of the Covenant weighed forty se'ah each — an enormous mass — yet Moshe carried them effortlessly. Why? Because the sacred letters engraved upon them bore their own weight. The writing sustained the stone. But the moment Moshe saw the calf, the letters flew off, and the stone became unbearably heavy, and it shattered. The Recanati draws a piercing principle from this: anything from which Hashem withdraws His Presence can no longer sustain itself. The sign of this truth, he writes, is the human body itself — when the neshamah departs, the body becomes impossibly heavy.

And finally, we discover the deepest gift Moshe received on the mountain — not the Torah, but something that may be even more consequential: the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy. The Recanati reveals that these thirteen names are not a prayer formula. They are the complete architecture of how Hashem governs the world through kindness, judgment, and compassion. Three groups of four, plus the supreme Name that encompasses them all — and together they form not thirteen separate doors, but one door with thirteen facets. And it never returns empty. A Season Joy

The month of Adar is far more than just a page on the calendar; it is described as the month of "hidden miracles" and the ultimate transformation of darkness into light. It is the final month of the Jewish year (counting from Nisan), representing the completion of a spiritual cycle. According to the Sefer Yetzirah (an ancient Kabbalistic text), Adar is associated with the Hebrew letter Kuf (ק), which signifies both "holiness" (Kadosh) and the ability to descend into the lowest realms to elevate sparks of divinity that have been "trapped" in physicality.

At the core of Adar’s spiritual DNA is the concept of Simcha (joy). Kabbalah teaches that during this month, the "mazal" (spiritual fortune) of the Jewish people is particularly healthy and ascending. This is rooted in the idea of V'nahafoch Hu—"and it was overturned"—referring to the moment when a decree of destruction was flipped into a day of celebration. Mystically, Adar represents the power to take a seemingly chaotic or negative situation and reveal that the Hand of God was orchestrating it for good all along.
