A little thought on this week's parashas Shemois
In Parashat Shemois, we encounter Moshe at the burning bush in Exodus 3:11 (Shemois 3:11). He expresses uncertainty when tasked with leading the Israelites out of Egypt: "וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֑ים מִֽי־אָנֹכִ֖י כִּ֥י אֵלֵֽךְ־אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֖ה וְכִֽי־אוֹצִֽיא אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָֽיִם" ("But Moses said to Hashem, 'Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should take the children of Israel out of Egypt?'").
Hashem responds to Moshe in Exodus 3:12 (Shemot 3:12): "וַיֹּ֗אמֶר כִּ֣י אֶֽהְיֶ֥ה עִמְּךָ֖ וְזֶ֣ה לְךָ֑ הָא֔וֹת כִּ֣י אָֽנֹכִ֗י שְׁלַחְתִּ֤יךָ בְצֵאתְךָ֙ אֶת־הָעָ֔ם מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם תַּעַבְד֥וּן אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים" ("He replied, 'For Hashem will be with you, and this
is the sign that I have sent you: when you take the people out of Egypt, you will serve Hashem on this mountain.'").
From these verses, we learn that Moshe initially questions his ability to fulfill the significant task set before him. He doubts his
capacity to lead the Israelites out of Egypt due to his perceived limitations.
However, Hashem's response assures Moshe that his success doesn’t solely depend on his own capabilities. Embracing challenges involves understanding that while doubts may arise, divine support and guidance are present to navigate through these
difficulties.
It is important to emphasize the importance of acknowledging our doubts and limitations while relying on faith and divine assistance to overcome challenges. Just as Hashem reassured Moshe, our path through challenges may not be
solitary; there will be unseen support from Hashem guiding us toward success. We just need to embrace the challenge and know that if Hashem set for us is because we have the ability to overcome it.
Wishing everyone a meaningful Shabbos!
