I'm excited to share with you what's happening next Saturday night and Sunday鈥攊t's Lag Baomer at last! In case you're not familiar with its importance, let me provide some insights.
聽
Why is it called Lag Baomer?
Lag Baomer derives its name from Hebrew, where "Lag" is represented by the letters Lamed and Gimel, totaling 33. Therefore, we celebrate it on the 33rd day of the Omer count.
聽
What are we celebrating?
You may have heard of the Zohar HaKadosh, authored by Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, also known as The Rashbi. He passed away on the 33rd day of the
Omer count. This day holds immense significance, as the preceding days were marked by mourning for the loss of Rabbi Akiva's students. The life and teachings of The Rashbi signify a continuation of the holy Torah tradition, which was nearly lost.

Why do we celebrate around fire?
Rabbi Shimon symbolizes the continuation of Torah. Our sages teach us that the candle represents the eternal nature of the soul. Therefore, we light a large fire to symbolize the eternity of Torah. We gather together, singing and laughing as one, because the survival of Torah depends on the unity of Am Israel (the nation of Israel).
聽
What can I gain from Lag Baomer?
Our sages teach that there's a special spiritual abundance during the hilula (celebration) of a tzadik (righteous person). It's
customary to visit the tzadik's tomb and pray to Hashem (God) for salvation. Connecting with the soul of The Rashbi on Lag BaOmer is highly recommended, as it can bring abundance into our lives.
How can I ensure my prayers are answered?
Our sages already taught us how to nullify evil decrees: through repentance, prayer, and charity. Remarkably, these three actions possess the power to even overturn a decree of death. Furthermore, during the yahrzeit (anniversary of passing) of a tzadik (righteous person), we can forge a connection with their soul, transcending to higher spiritual realms and drawing spiritual and physical abundance.

What if I'm unable to visit the Rashbi's Tomb?
No need for concern! We have a solution for you. Rabbi Shepherd sends a special kabbalist to Meron (where the Rashbi's tomb is located) to offer kabbalistic
prayers for Rabbi Shepherd's students and followers of King David Kabbalah. If you wish to have your name included in the prayers, simply click the button below.
