All the effort we've invested in these past weeks is to be fully prepared to receive the Torah on Shavuot. You might ask, 'Wasn't the Torah already given thousands of years ago?' Yet, this renewal occurs annually, both personally and communally.
Besides receiving the Torah it is also a very significant day, David HaMelech's yurtzait. Shavuot as such a powerful impact in our lives that we really need to be prepared in order to be able to receive as much as we are meant to receive.
