Rabbi Yoḥanan himself said that the word "anochi " that begins the Ten Commandments is an abbreviation for; I myself wrote and gave [ana nafshi ketivat yehavit אֲנָא נַפְשִׁי כְּתַבִית יְהַבִית]. The Rabbis said it is an abbreviation for: A pleasant statement was written and given [amira ne’ima ketiva yehiva אֲמִירָה נְעִימָה כְּתִיבָה
יְהִיבָה]. Some say the word "Anochi " can be interpreted backward: It was written, it was given, its statements are faithful [yehiva ketiva ne’emanim amareha יְהִיבָה כְּתִיבָה נֶאֱמָנִין אֲמָרֶיהָ.]. Basically, this Gemarah teaches us that within the word Anochi Hashem is telling us that when He gave us the Torah, it is as if He gave us His being, 'ana nafshi', I, My being 'ketivat ' wrote 'yehavit' and gave you, that means when
we learn the Torah we are able to connect to the light of Hashem. That is the expression of His being, which fills the Torah with life.
וְאַתֶּם֙ הַדְּבֵקִ֔ים בַּיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם חַיִּ֥ים כֻּלְּכֶ֖ם הַיּֽוֹם׃
while you, who held fast to the LORD your God, are all alive today.
when you are connected to Hashem that is the source of life then you are alive. The way to connect to Hashem is through the Torah. The Torah is the thread of light that connects every individual to the highest of the highest. this is why the sages say that the day that the Torah was given to Am Yisrael on Har Sinia is equal in importance to the
beginning of creation. when Am Yisrael accepted the Torah this is what established the creation to be a real existence.
Most people will understand that what we are talking about is a historical event that happened many years ago. However, the Ramban is teaching us that Ma'amad Har Sinia is something that happens every day and even every moment. In other words, every moment of your life you have an awesome opportunity to connect your soul to Hashem through His Torah. Which is in a certain way your private and individual Ma'amad
Har Sinia. Can you imagine how your life would look like with just a few moments like that every day? It may be worth it to live a whole life just for one moment like that. Here we just saw that you have an opportunity to go through this experience every moment of your life. Hashem will help all of us to apply these concepts and integrate more and more living moments within our day and in our life.
