Shalom , I hope this e-mail finds you well.
After we left Egypt and were about to receive the Torah, Hashem took away the poison of the serpent. The light of the Torah, nullified the Yetzer Harah. Am Yisrael had the possibility to completely push the yetzer harah away from them. This means that in a certain way there was a tikkun for the sin of Adam Harishon, in a way that they were at the point were they could re choose to connect to the tree of life.
To be elevated to the highest levels with out possibility of descending. They had achieve a high conscious level so that they were able to see visions of the upper worlds, there eyes were enlightened, and they were full of joy to hear and know Hashem. Hashem gave them garments made of letters of the holy names of Hashem. which are the famous jewels that am Yisrael received at Har Sinai. The had no control of them, and had no way of bringing them back to the impurity they
were in Egypt.
After the sin of the Golden Calf, they lost all of those levels, they lost the upper lights that were illuminating them, they lost the garments of the holy names, and they pulled upon themselves the dirtiness of the snake once again. With this they also brought death to the world once again.
It says that the light of the face of Moshe Rabbeinu was so bright in their eyes they could not take it and were struck with fear of coming close to Moshe Rabbeinu. Before the Egel they were able to receive and enjoy the light of Hashem, now even the light of Moshe Rabbeinu was too bright for them.
there are many people that ask, that since the golden calf the poison of the snake came back to them so what is the difference between Am Yisroel and the rest of the nations? The Maharal from Prague teaches us that since we had a time when we were without the poison, and we saw the light and the purity, it is easier to return and cleanse from the poison of the snake. we know that the 613 mitzvot are correspond to the the different body
parts, we see form this that the Torah fits to the structure of man. and every one of the differents mitzvah has the power to clean and purify the dirtiness of the snake from a certain part of the being that it corresponds to. The Rashash explains that every time we do a mitzvah that one of the mediations that we do is to bring the light of Hashem that corresponds to the particular mitzvah through the neshamah all the way through the physical body, and to meditate that this
light cleanses us from the poison of the snake that resides in our body. our sages say that the sin of the golden calf was severe that we could not take the punishment and stay alive and them there would be no more nation of Yisroel. there is a parable to explain this
;
we are the son of the king that sinned, and the punishment was to have a large stone thrown on top of us, but the King know that that will kill his son, so He crushed the stone to many small stones and each time we need a different punishment the King adds one of the small stones until the whole punishment is meted out.
The same thing with Giving of the Torah on the positive side that is divided for the generations to come. this is the meaning of what the Rashash says that each mitzva is like a little mount Sinai that can cleanse us from the poison of the snake.
