Before Pesach we spoke about the tremendous light that comes in this special time. The Ariza”l explains that after the end of the first yom tov, all of this tremendous enlightenment disappears. Gradually through the 49 days of Sefirat HaOmer it returns.
Manny times in the beginning of a spiritual journey, many people experience great enlightenment, a period of time that is full of inspiration that you feel close intimacy with Hashem, and you know that Hashem is guiding you. After a certain period of time may even be a year or two, manny people experience a certain downfall. As if they lost all the inspiration they had, some
even go back to their old ways G-d forbid.
The wise man will take this opportunity to build himself gradually, to reach those heights that he experienced in the beginning of his journey. It seems that Hashem wants to show in the beginning the potential that we can reach and its sweet taste, if we are determined to work our way to reach the top of the mountain.
David Hamelech says “Me yaale be har Hashem,” “Who will ascend the mountain of Hashem” Har in Hebrew is the root of Hirhur, which means contemplation. Which is a certain aspect of Kabbalistic Jewish meditation. The purpose of the meditation is spiritual elevation. The best parable for this is walking up the mountain. You can actually use this parable within your meditation. Within
the meditations of Sefirat HaOmer, we work our way to build the spiritual levels of our being and our portion in the Shechina. The Rashash says that these 49 days are the root and foundation of the whole year. There are many details in the advanced meditations of Siddur Harashash for Sefirat HaOmer.
One aspect that everyone can meditate on is this principle of going up the mountain through your spiritual elevation. Connect your awareness to the spring that represents the source of abundance. Bring this light that you connected to to the Sefirah of the Day. In other words one can look on the 49 days of the Omer like 49 vessels that are waiting for you to fill them with light.
Chazal says “Kol hamekadesh atzmo meat me lemata 'whoever santicies himself with in the lower realms' Mikasdshim oto harbe me lemala 'He is sanctified a lot from above'” If one does the effort to fill up those 49 vessels as much as you can Hashem will help you to complete the task and add much more abundance and light and inspiration to life and to the whole world.
